Why Rugby?: I came to college not sure what I wanted to do extra curricularly, but after a week or so realized how much I missed playing a team sport. After some research on Michigan’s club sports and a lackluster week-long stint with the rowing team, I gave rugby a try and immediately knew it was the sport for me here at Michigan.

What have you liked about Michigan Rugby the most so far?: The guys. I always considered myself to have a “unique” sense of humor in high school, and I feel like most of the guys on the team share the same quirky sense of humor. Additionally, the camaraderie amongst players is something that I have not experienced in any other sport.

Most Memorable Moment on the Pitch?: Receiving a switch from the legendary John Palladino and breaking 50m for a try to clinch the intersquad championship against Ross my freshman year (2015). There was a sizeable crowd that was pulling strongly for my team (The Dudes) and they went nuts when I received the offload and took it to the house, effectively ending the Ross Dynasty (2013-2014 A.D.)

What’s your favorite rugby drill in practice? Least Favorite?: My favorite drill is probably the LC drill. It is very simple, fun, and extremely applicable to the game itself. My least favorite drill is probably 1v1 tackling, solely because that is the drill in which I injured my shoulder last fall and had to miss a few games.

What other sports have you played?: In high school I played varsity football and track, and also dabbled in basketball and baseball on the junior varsity level. I enjoy playing golf, tennis, ping pong, and paddleton (similar to badminton) recreationally.

In 5 years what do you see yourself doing?: In 5 years I could see myself working at a consulting firm or potentially getting an MBA on the east or west coast.

What’re some embarrassing childhood memories you can share with us?: I was a very strong proponent of naming all my 4th grade sports teams the Wildcats because Troy Bolton from High School Musical was my idol.

Favorite place in Ann Arbor?: The Big House.

Biggest Fear?: Being trapped in a car or closed room with a mosquito in it.

Favorite food/meal?: Buffalo Chicken Pizza from South U.

Any gameday superstitions?: Always crucial to take the PGD.

Favorite superhero and why?: I’d say my favorite superhero is Hawkeye (aka Clint Barton). I chose him because he is the epitome of practice makes perfect… he has no natural powers but became extremely skilled at archery through intense practice and is able to compete with superhumans.

Best advice you’ve ever received?: The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.
