Freshman 15: Jamie Demers

Jamie Demers stepped right off the football field after his senior of high school to find a new home here at Michigan on the rugby pitch. Alternating between prop and lock most of the year he started every game and even put in a two try effort in Minnesota. Already showing up on USA’s age grade radar the sky is the limit for Jamie here at Michigan.

Funniest thing you’ve seen on the pitch?
Shay break the line and looking around at everybody’s shocked expressions, including coach up on the hill.

What are you scared of?
Dozer and Shay, but for very different reasons

The silliest thing you bought with you to college?
I brought about 60 t-shirts but only wear about 5

What is your hardest class? Why?
Calculus 2, I like math, but this can be pretty tough

Who is your favorite player? Why?
Will Skelton, he is a big young lock, who is undeveloped, like a scaled up version of me

What annoys you?
When people use versus as a verb like “USA versed the All Blacks in Dubai and won”

Why did you join rugby?
I wanted to play a physical sport and rugby offered a great mix of the team aspect and a unique culture

Who are your 3 dream dinner guest?
Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, George Washington

Any hidden talents? What?
I can eat and drink dairy products at an impressive rate, both in speed and quantity

What do you want to achieve outside of rugby while at Michigan?
I would like to head a research project within the College of Engineering

How do you want to be remembered in Michigan rugby history?
I want to start every 15’s game for all of my 4 years

Which team mate would you want to be?
Dozer, maintaining his prop status while playing in the back three is a feat in its own category.
