26 Nov 2014 by Brandon Sparks

Austin’s first year with UMRFC has been an eventful one. He burst onto the scene showing good game understanding while showing off what kind of athlete he could be. He had a setback with injuries but was always an active member during his recovery where he took the time to learn the finer points of the game.

Moths…they scare the bejeezus out of me.

South East Asian Studies, its not that the material is so hard but that there is so much to memorize.

When people half ass things.

10. Why did you join rugby?
My high school didn’t have a team but i grew up liking the all blacks and over the summer i saw Michigan defeat Ohio State in the CRC’s and kitty kat sing Hail to the Victors after. I knew i wanted to join after that.

I want to leave Michigan without any regrets. For me this means being involved with as many things as possible and trying out new things because college is one of the only places you can do this.

14. How do you want to be remembered in Michigan rugby history?
I want to leave a legacy of someone who did everything he could to better himself and the team. I hate the idea of complacency and want to make sure i strive to avoid it.

15. Which team mate would you want to be?
I would strive to be like Joel. He knows the game so well and is so dedicated to improving himself and the team. He works so hard and inspires others to do the same.
